I guess it is finally time to update everyone on our little bundle of joy. Only 3 days after making the last post Taitum Mark Koyle was born. I was glad he was not a couple weeks (or even one week) overdue. We have a lot going on in October and that just would not work. lol Lots of birthdays in the extended family and just in our little family of five...six now, oops! October 13 is Colee's birthday the 14th is our anniversary and the 21st is Alex's birthday. Yikes now we added one on the 10th.

So, Sunday the 9th I started having contractions. I went to my sister's ward as they were blessing Teagan that day and sat through all of sacrament rocking and my mom said moaning. :) We got to her house and after a lot of discussion and convincing I was finally willing to go to the hospital.

Brad and I left the kids with my parents and off we went hoping this was it. After an hour of observation the contractions were not strong enough to dilate me any more than a 2. I was disappointed. However, that didn't last long.....

At 1:30am I woke up with pain and went back and forth texting my mom to see if she thought this was it. The only problem was my mom never went to labor on her own with me and the other 5 were all c-section. So we went back and forth until 2:45am! Finally, I was convinced again when I could hardly breath or move. I woke Brad up and he said, "Have you taken more tylenol?" My thought, "What the ?!@?!" I told him this was it and we needed to go.

Thankfully I already had a bag packed and it was already in the car. On the way there my contractions were 2 minutes apart! Yikes! We got all checked back in and had an epidural about 4:00am. By that point I was pretty tired and got a little nap in. I was checked about every hour and was advised by the doctor that I should dilate about a cm every hour. This meant I would not be having him until around 3:00pm the doctor figured. That didn't sound fun to me at all and my body must have agreed.

Around 11am the nurse came and checked me and I was dilated to 5cm...checked again in about and hour and I was already dilated to 9.5 cm! The nurse was shocked and went to call the doctor to tell him to come back. So while we were waiting the nurse got everything ready for our little boy to arrive.

Around 12:00 the nurse told me she was going to have me push him down a little while we waited for the doctor so I would be ready to deliver. So up in the stirrups, one push and the nurse said, "Um...he is already crowing so we are just going to wait." What?!?!

The doctor arrived and at 12:16 pm I started pushing, expecting it to take a long time. I pushed and pushed and pushed and at 12:25 pm Taitum was born! Yes, only 9 minutes of pushing! He weighed 6lbs 12oz and was 19in. The nurse had a young man doing his first clinical and he and his wife are looking to start a family. She immediately told him not to tell his wife about this birth as first timers don't go this quickly. lol

My little man had to go to the NICU for awhile as he decided to go potty before he had a diaper on and during birth swallowed it. :( Then while he was there his blood sugar dropped. Before he was taken by the NICU team my WONDERFUL nurse took him and brought him to me to hold. I literally only held him for a minute before he was whisked away. I am so grateful to the nurse who gave me a chance to hold him first because I don't think they were going to let me. It was the weirdest feeling to just give birth and then not see him or really hold him for HOURS! Brad stayed with him the majority of the time so I didn't really see him either, but was glad he was with our little boy and thankful my mom was there with me.

Brad said to me later he was glad it went so well because if it didn't he was going to get 'snipped' right away. lol I looked at him and said, "Well, Heavenly Father must have been watching out for us." I would say 9 minutes was pretty amazing and I am pretty proud of it if I do say so myself, mostly because I thought it would be hours before I had him. :)

What a sweet story. That made me laugh, Brad asking if you took another Tylenol. What a man!
